nz - has the feijoa..which also means you have 42 below feijoa vodka, oh and least we forget poached feijoas on hokey pokey icecream..

italy - has the nespole. a strange little fruit, but oh so juicy and good.


if this was just about feijoas and nespole it would be pretty tough. but in italy, during these days you can also buy the tastiest cherries for only €2/k or strawberries also for only €2/k.

nz - every cafè or restaurant that you go to has a toilet..a proper toilet that you sit on and do your business

italy - every cafè or restaurant that you go to has a toilet...maybe a sit down toilet or maybe a turkish toilet..i dont know if im doing it wrong or not, but the other day i peed on my boot.

nz - there is no set sale time, it is around the end of the season..you stumble around shops looking for the sale rack hoping to find something good..if you are lucky you find something with 30% off the original price.

italy - sale means sale. starting 5th january. practically every shop has 50% off, and i dont just mean one rack. even the outlet stores are on sale. the best shopping experiences i have had have been during sale time or at the markets. my latest (and amore...yes the last..) purchase was a marni jacket..it was 270 euro down to 35 euro..ooh la la..

nz - it is sunny, warm..usually with a light wind blowing. i head to hataitai with kell. we lie in the sun all day. listening to music. getting tipsy. in the sun.

italy - i woke up. i was tired. i went to work at 12.30. i got home form work at 8.45.

christmas time
nz - summer time, BBQ's, pavlova, sweating, beaches, playing outside, family, eating ham, lying around, drinking, presents, more eating..

italy - winter time, feasts, wine, champagne, family, friends, playing scopa, relaxing, presents, feasts, drinking, sleeping, eating, feasts..

this was a hard one..i think the greatest thing about nz christmas is that its in summer..you can go to the beach in the afternoon, if you like..
but, the 10 days of non-stop italian feasting with the winterly surroundings..wins in the end..

nz - when you buy chicken it is ready to cook, chop it up and you are done.

italy - if you buy chicken with skin on, there are little feather things sticking out, maybe to remind you that you are eating an animal..you have to pull out the big feathers, which stick to your fingers and are disgusting..you then have to burn off the hairs on the stove element, which then fills your house with that rancid burnt hair smell...THEN chop it up and you are done.

this is an easy one, round #2 goes to nz.

toothbrush accessories
nz - has those toothbrush container thingys that hold the whole toothbrush..you buy one then realise that the toothbrush doesn't fit the container, it isn't like you can take your toothbrush shopping with you to try out different options..
it shouldn't be that hard..people just want to cover the bristles of their toothbrush so that when they pull it out of their toilet bag it isn't filled with fluff..

italy - on the other hand has it all covered..when you buy most toothbrushes they come with a cover thingy..and it covers only the top part..
hence no fluffy toothbrush and it can be used on the next toothbrush (incase you buy one from nz that doesn't have a cover)..
